About this Course
Nīlā Devi is the blue-hued deity who is consort of Lord Visnu. Meditating upon her brings clarity in perception so that our mind becomes like a cloudless blue sky. Nīlāsūktam is part of the Taittirīya-samhitā where the Veda-s sing the glory of the goddess. In this workshop, you’ll learn to chant this beautiful offering to Nīlā to remove obstacles of the heavens and earth by enriching our minds with her strength and focus. We will then incorporate mantra and sound in a special meditation and gesture practice that will activate the energetic and physical body and leave you with a feeling of sattva: as if you are floating on the clear blue cloudless sky of mental wellness.
Each course provides review the six rules of grammar in Vedic chanting set out in the Tattiriya Upanishad: pronunciation, letters or vowels and consonants (varna), pronunciation (svara), duration or unit of length of sound (mātrā), force or strength (balam), continuity (sāma), and combination of two words that blend together (santānah).
